Dear members,
Autumn is fast approaching — and with it an eventful period at Schönborn Castle Golf Course.
In the summer months, we were able to record numerous sporting successes — the achievements in the youth sector and the exciting competitions in the club championship are particularly noteworthy.
There has also been progress in the area of space maintenance: The machinery fleet has been partially renewed and our greenkeepers are already successfully using the new equipment. The improved quality of care is clearly visible on the pitch.
Based on your feedback from the member survey, initial measures to improve the space have already been considered.
Please also save the date for the upcoming aeration and the current opening hours of the office, cafeteria and restaurant.
On 26.9. there will be a comparative battle with GC Ottenstein in Ottenstein, on 28.9. we will face GC Fontana in Fontana. Support our club and please register with the secretariat.
Social highlights in September include the Oktoberfest tournament on 20.9. and the 50+ final tournament on 24.9. We have prepared a special culinary program for both events.
In this newsletter, we will also announce the winner of the first rule question — and will also provide you with the next question about the rules.

A big thank you goes out to all players who took on the challenge and made for a successful tournament weekend. We would also like to thank the secretariat, tournament management and the Greenkeeper team for the organization and perfect course maintenance.
In the general class secured Stephan Csöngei - with a total score of 149 shots - and Alessandra Csöngei - with 159 shots - the title — the best parking spaces for the 2026 season are therefore firmly in the hands of the Csöngei family.
In the MIDAM category, Matthias Runte with the gentlemen and Gabriele Melhardt by the ladies. The senior ranking decided Robert Grund and Gabriele Fahrnberger for yourself, while Wolfgang Partl triumphed in the Masters class. At the Super Masters, Hans Kauschitz and Liselotte Kohout Get the title.

The youngsters also showed great performances: In the U14 age group, they won Benjamin Al-Khaffaf, at the U12 he sat Theo Sas through, and in the U10 category, the victory went to Adam Breuss. Unfortunately, there were no girls' ratings due to a lack of registrations. We would really like that to change next year...
We warmly congratulate all winners on their successes and look forward to further sporting highlights in the current season.

Answer to the last rule question
- Ball A must be returned with impunity.
- Ball B is played as it lies.
- There is no penalty for player B.
Rule reference and explanation:
- Player B played his ball from the green, not from the green.
- According to Rule 11.1a, there is no penalty for accidentally hitting another ball at rest with one's own ball, unless the shot was taken from the green.
- According to Rule 9.6, a ball that was accidentally moved by another ball must be returned to its original position — even if it came to rest in the hole.
Winner: Congratulations Werner Kelterer on the three golf balls with the Schönborn logo.
New rule question:
The player's second shot lands in the green bunker. The player knocks the ball out of the bunker and it comes to rest just before the green. The player removes the sand that was lying on both the green and outside the green with a towel as it was on his line of play. What is the decision in the stroke game?
Send your answer to vorstand@gcschoenborn.com.
We are giving away three golf balls with the Schönborn logo from all correct entries. We will announce the correct answer in the next newsletter.
