Kids Newsletter April 2024

18.4.2024

Dear parents! Dear kids!

Yeah!!!! We have finally started the new season!!!

We are pleased that, with over 60 registrations for children and youth training, we are once again able to prove that we are one of the top clubs in Austria when it comes to youth topics.

After taking first place in 2022, we just barely missed out on 1st place in the ÖGV ranking for youth promotion in 2023. It's time to catch up again this year and with the high number of participants, a big step has been taken right away.

After Easter, all trainings have started and the kids are taking part with really great enthusiasm.

And the first tournaments have also been won:

Austrian Juniors Golf Tour

On April 6 and 7, the first event of the country's top youth league took place at the Frühling Golf Club, at which the GCSS squad players were able to stage themselves excellently.

Among the U12 girls, the currently unrivaled Samira Petek won a huge victory with 20 strokes ahead of the runner-up.

In the U12 boys, only one participant from Germany prevented a double victory for the GCSS. With Matteo Kaipel in 2nd place and Benjamin Al-Khaffaf in 3rd place, the usual protagonists were once again at the forefront.

Our two new members, the brothers Felix and Philipp Neffe, finished in strong 5th place (U12) and shared 15th place (U14).

ÖGV national team player Stephan Csöngei narrowly missed out on the podium among the U16 boys with 4th place. He played an excellent 1 under par in the first round, but had to give up a bit on the 2nd day.

Fiona Klein, who joined the GCSS women's team this year, achieved a great fourth place for the GCSS despite a change of swing among the U18 girls with a shared 3rd place.

Here are the results of all GCSS participants:

U12 girls: 1. Samira Petek +14 (+5/+9)

U12 boys: 2nd Matteo Kaipel +14 (+8/+6)

3. Benjamin Al-Khaffaf +22 (+10/+12)

5. Felix Nephew +45 (+28/+17)

U14 boys: T15 Philip Nephew +21 (+13/+8)

U16 boys: 4. Stephan Csöngei +4 (-1/+5)

U18 girls: T3 Fiona Klein +21 (+11/+10)

Last weekend, the first youth tournaments were also held here in Schönborn:

Schoenborn Juniors Tour

On April 13, for the first time this year, our youngest members were able to prove their skills or even get a taste of tournament mode on 3 holes for the first time.

Even on the range, the kids were really highly motivated and, of course, sometimes quite excited.

In the 9-hole tournament with 12 participants, Laurenz Mayer and Leopold Egger won the net rating with 23 points each.

The gross score was shared by Theo Sas and Constantin Attensam, who were already experienced in tournaments, with 8 points each.

The 3-hole tournament series is celebrating its premiere this year. This format is intended to give our youngest members the opportunity to gain their first tournament experience. The best 3 “rounds” make it into the annual ranking. After the first tournament, Constantin Kreuzer and Vincent Pachinger lead with 19 strokes each.

Student Cup

On April 14, we hosted the first of three ÖGV Student Cups at GCSS.

We had 39 participants in the 18-hole tournament and 8 participants in the 9-hole tournament. Our club was of course the strongest represented with 13 starters (including 11 squad players).

It was a great pleasure to see so many kids in our club. Even before the cannon launch, there was a really great atmosphere on the range.

In the overall gross score across all age groups, Samira Petek (U12) took the shared first place with 23 gross points. In the boys, Matteo Kaipel won just one shot ahead of his U12 colleague Benjamin Al-Khaffaf with 26 gross points.

Here are the results of the GCSS Kids in detail:

general

Since April 1, there has been a new HCP calculation for 9-hole tournaments worldwide, which unfortunately makes it difficult for participants to improve their handicap. Roughly speaking, you now have to play around 20 net points on the 9 holes to match your HCP. For more information, please visit the ÖGV homepage at https://www.golf.at/magazin/sport-news/national/20241801-neuigkeiten-world-handicap-system-2024/

In the next newsletter in May, there will also be an opportunity to register for the two camps in summer (1st and 2nd week of vacation).

We would be happy if you keep coming to training so diligently!

Greetings,

Chris & Clemens
